Fed up with chess? Not really myself 😂, but it is nice to have a change of pace, such as playing online checkers (even though I’m clueless about the gameplay). Thankfully, there are some online alternatives to Chess.com or Lichess. And they come with a range of games too. Below are some possible considerations I’m currently taking an interest in…
FlyOrDie
Not the one replaced by evoworld.io. It offers chess (with unique piece designs I’m not too fond of) and other games. The premium plan starts at around USD 5 per month (for Hong Kong users, at least) for an ad-free experience, full-screen mode, and custom settings.

PlayOK
A clean, simple interface. Apparently, chess is the most popular game there, and backgammon comes second. It looks like Elo starts at 1200. Chinese chess (xiangqi) and shogi are available too.

Pogo
I used to have an account there before EA took over the place. The site looks fancy with some games based on established brands like Monopoly™. There is no chess, though. Tried to put up a screenshot here; yet, the image size is too large. Nevermind.
WorldWinner
I also had an account on WW, but it seems gone. The site has undergone a revamped design. My past favorite game, Monopoly Slots, is gone. Though, the site still features skill gaming with money rewards. In the past, they put a hefty 25% tax cut on your winnings but never accounted for your loss. Maybe things get better now? It has a mobile game app too, but I can’t find it on my local Google Play Store (HK).

That’s all for another day.
