Like it or not, WhatsApp is an indispensable tool for messaging, for either personal or business uses. Though, I cannot quite understand as to how some people use it for exchanging voicemails. Won’t making direct calls be more convenient this way? Anyway, some handy tips from me after years of experience.
- WhatsApp allows direct messaging to you. I use it to keep quick notes quite often. As such, I will keep the self-chat sticky by pinning the chat (https://faq.whatsapp.com/645907560577342/?helpref=uf_share) so that it will stay above other active chats. Useful for keeping self-reminders at times.
- Living in a city riddled by online scams or frauds, some cybersecurity measures are essential to prevent unsolicited messages. I used to be randomly added into unknown social groups by strangers until I fixed the privacy setting. By merely changing the groups setting to allow only my contacts, I have never been having the same issues again.

- The chat lock function can be used to keep chats private, but it also works very well to prevent distractions from group notifications. By locking the groups, you can have a less cluttered home feed, whereas you can focus on your close contacts. It would be nice if they introduced some folders to keep irrelevant chats organized.More details on chat lock here: https://faq.whatsapp.com/764072925284841/?cms_platform=web
- Not exactly a tip; I typically get WhatsApp stickers at https://whatsticker.online/c/home/new/HK/zh. The site is a rather popular choice for Hong Kongers.
- The WhatsApp group icon has a rigid requirement on the photo size (in short, it must be a square in order not to end up distorted). I will refer to an online tool if I need to use one. Here is one site to help convert existing photos: https://whatscrop.org/group-icon-resizer
That’s all I have for the day. I might add more tips later on.
